I sit alone in contemplation,
my path unsure, no destination
lays ahead, my way unplanned,
as here I sit, pen in my hand.

Today I heard a young man died,
I must admit, no tears I cried.
Ten years have passed since first he came
into my life; first heard his name.

Spreadeagled to his father’s bed,
white sheets weren’t white; soaked through blood red,
flashing lights, an ambulance,
a young boy lost his innocence.

Poetry, why does one write?
Does writing soften dark of night?
Are poems walls to hide behind,
Or souls’ portals, to free the mind?

Today there was a suicide,
I must admit, no tears I cried.
Numbed I try to understand,
as here I sit, pen in my hand.

A powerful piece, There is nothing anyone can say to make loss easier. We will never understand suicide. Its not a rational emotion.

I think one writes to ease the pain
and yes, to free the mind to feel again.

(big hugggsssssss) I used to be almost this naive, how irrational I was almost giving myself away and you can only imagine where those all around me could have gone! (sad sigh) Now I understand how ridiculous suicide is and encourage all loved ones to prevent ones they know who have these thoughts to slap them out of it, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Tim, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Love,

Tim - I'm grateful that you write - and I'm sure that you do as a vent for some of the multifarious atrocities you encounter each and every day... Thank you for doing your share to make a difference...

How sorry I am for the ones lost. Such a disturbing scene and shocking realization what trauma they go through to the point of [wanting] to die, and succeeding. Heartbreaking!
And, yes, mind numbing to one's soul.

What I want to add to this is on occasion, and I hope this statistic, high, some of them [get found] just in the nick of time...the question of why for either situation weights heavy on all hearts and minds.

I think this a good reminder to be more aware...if you see the signs, try to do something...in the particular case I speak of....it was like watching a coming tornado, with no way to stop it, not knowing if it would hit. Not knowing the extent of the storm.

The trauma for family and friends is indescribable... as witness of this poem and in my personal life.

Thank you for this...may we all try to be more aware.

Noah, sometimes you can do nothing. Slapping them into awareness or the equivalant of such, only makes them more determined, if in fact that their intent. A niece of mine, tried three times until she suceeded.  Sometimes, there is nothing anyone can do to stop that runaway train...but, helplessly watch. I got blessed in the case of which I speak. So far...

Hugs, Pat

Tim, thank you.  I understand the need, I don't always understand the why.  I understand the heavy cry...and feel the slump of shoulder.  Carry on, Sir.  We need you.
