“How do you feel today?
Like a beggar you eat, you drink,
tit-bits and morsels from love’s cuisine
dropped carelessly onto the ground.
There!  See how you grovel,
you cough up the truth,
and numb you’re immobile, immune,
to wind of no love blown as before
straight to the core of your soul.

But eat, go on – eat!
There’s no meat on the bones.
Hope can’t satisfy thirst
or dreams still hunger for more
so move, damn it, move,
don’t stand in the cold
on hold for the rest of your life.”

And the beggar stood still.
“There are shadows”, she said,
“Shadows behind, over there,
but you can’t see and never will know
how beautiful they look to me.”

“How will you feel tomorrow,
no shadow appears in daylight?”
and the beggar replied,
“The strong survive, the weak die,
and the in between live out a lie.”

“Which one are you?” pray tell,
pray speak” … and the beggar asked,
“Now or next week?”

Thank you, Magnus, for reading and taking the time to comment.

Hi, Icebox, as usual it's an honour to be read by you and your approval greatly treasured.     I'm inclined towards the "dramatic" - perhaps just "thank you" would do?

Carol, Sometimes an intense emotion is difficult to write out so eventually this is all I could come up with.  Thanks for reading.
