The Canvas

Water color pictures
and faded memories
Are cluttering up my mind
And spilling through my eyes.

Shades of red and blue
Stain my canvas face;
Hiding signs of youth
And smearing it with age.

Diluted by resistance
And mental disarray,
Memories of my past
Reluctantly fade to gray.

Faced now with reality,
and a vision of what's to come.
A new image covers me--
I think I'll despise this one.

Each chapter turns without our permission, without our concern, without our revision...
Heard much louder than written. TD

Some vivid imagery here (I can relate somewhat) but I can't help but see the warmth and glow, the softenening effects of time on a 'portrait' if the brushes were kept flexible when dipped in the paintbox of Life.

Noooo! Don't despise your image! A person who could write with such beauty is a person who is beautiful from the inside out--and that kind of beauty never fades.

Kiss the mirror for me...

If the colorful brush strokes are our exterior...

And the canvas, our soul...

Then your cloth Naome, flows with emotion, and evokes passion, like a true masterpiece...

Diamond,
Thank you so much for your thoughfilled words.  Everyone of them appreciated.

Midnitesun,
Thank you for reading and writing.  I wrote this as a challenge to myself sometime back.  I wanted to try something new.

EarthAngel,
You are a joy!  Thank you for your very kind words.  The mirror says thank you too.

Richy,
Thank you very much!  I am still searching for the painter within.  Hopefully soon, I will find her.
