Of Roads and Toads

If you sigh a lonely road
And you eye a lonely toad
Ask him if he’d walk or so
Or if he has nowhere to go

Company will warm your road
Sometime even share your load
No matter what appears to be?
Appearance is but half you see.

He maybe walking by himself
And stored his thoughts upon a shelf
Croaking at the empty air
Searching things that are not there.

He maybe looking for a friend
To walk with him around the bend
To talk to him of common store
To share the awesome of his awe

Take his hand and he’ll take yours
Eternity can be a pause.

And if you kiss him, maybe he'll turn into a handsome prince... or stay a cute little frog - What's the big difference anyway?...

JM,
I winkiewinkied a frothy moth
Turned me into raspbery broth.
And my dragon now is not the same
Ever since she stroked him tame.

Wonderful morning read Sy!
Even though I do get toads and frogs mixed up..
I kiss them both...just to make sure.
Don't get up...I'll pour this morn.
~Morning hugs~

Good morning, Sir Toad!

~*~

I once did spot
A lonely toad
Sighing down
A lonely road,
I spread my wings,
Said, "Hop aboard!"
I'll fly you to
My home, my lord."

His croak became
A song of heart,
He walked with spring,
The dear old fart,
Now he's happy
As a clam,
But now dost query,
Who I am.

~*~

You don't even want to ask
about the toads on the road...

at least, not out
in the country!

Good morning, Sy!

Seymour, I haven't walked hand in...ummm....flipper....?....with a toad, but I have helped a turtle cross the highway once. Honest!! But, that's another story and I am rushed once again to-day. Enjoyed this read. Raspberry jam with your toad...err...toast? Okie Dokie. hugs, Chris

Hey hey Seymour Tabin... I believe I'm guilty of not reading much of your work in the past but, I was just taking my little stop in Open Poetry and your title caught my eye.

It's a sweet poem, the message isn't one I necessarily agree with, but it has some truth to it... yes, there are a lot of painful souls out there, some who just wish they could be reached out to.  And you're right that beneath all the layers, there's that crucial ingredient to everyone that makes them helpful to walk with... but, I don't think if you're on the road then you should be talking to strangers.  Even strange toads.

Nicely written, my friend... thanks for the uplifting thought.

The road seems shorter already, just at the thought of such a nice toad-y friend.

(sigh) Except perhaps the best toads you can be acquainted with would rather be off the road, there are so many special souls out there where one doesn't always come eye to eye with with impressive tales to tell! (big hugggssssssss) This is wonderful, sweet friend, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Seymour, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Rree-deep
when I saw this one I had a very different idea where it might go

On the road, a toad
Then a car passing by
And….
well I like yours better
