Mourning Dove
Near our front door
Cooing a lonesome call
So sullen and sad

How do you know
Our loved one has gone
Did someone tell you it was time
To sing that forlorn eerie song

Are you a sign
Sent from heaven above
To help us mourn
For the one that we loved

Perhaps your are a messenger
Carrying a message of love
And with each coo
Your saying, love you, love you
Love you...

This was written in rememberence of a special lady who passed too soon from this earth and on the day of her funeral the doves were literally at the front door of the place we were staying. I thought at the time they must have been heaven sent as there was no obvious reason for them to be where they were.

sometimes mother nature has a way of sending us messages   a very nice rememberence.

It matters not how you answer, It matters only that i hear you.

Do you know that my working title used to be Songbird and that it is still one of my nicknames?  Just seemed kind of intresting to know.  Often people are taken from this place before they should be and soetimes sweet things, like what happened with the doves, happen.  It is nice to know that God cares enough to arrange things that way.  Don't you think?  Oh by the way my working title now is Blue Phoenix and the more popular of my nicknames.

I don't know if today is a good day, or if yesterday was, or if tomorrow will be, but I'd like to think so.

Dear Songbird, this song sings to souls.
So beautiful, so soulful...

I believe that the doves were messengers of love and everlasting life.

At the funeral of my girlfriend's daughter, on a cold, windy November day in Ontario, a bumblebee buzzed about. Lindsay loved bumblebees...

Loving hugs,
EA

A beautiful write...
Was thinking that we interpret what is given in our lives...
Mourning Doves received an interpretation that gave them a name...in fact, they only sing when they are at peace. Smiles from TD

Nothing like the haunting call of the mourning dove.
I have them nest here every year...
they mate for life you know?
I believe things like what happened to you happen for a reason..
Excellent write.

These doves are as soft and gentle as their muted coloring....as is this poem. Enjoyed this. Chris
