state of confusion

(This one takes a bit of explaining. It's written about a published poet who writes anti-semitic poems, then carefully disguises them so that most readers would never guess - or see, the hatred he has for the Jewish people. He's published his work on many sites and has several books of poetry out there. This is my way of letting him know that there are readers who know what kind of man - or rather, rat, he is. Sorry for the rant!)

Beware the Rat

Tucked away in the heartland’s bosom,
he finds it a natural course
to cling to wooden crosses
and embrace ancient prejudices.

He forgets his birthplace,
embraces instead, this world of isolation.
He believes his origins lay here,
on wintry, dark roads and worn cobblestone alleys,
putrid still with the stench of history –
feces, urine, bones and blood,
trampled upon daily en route to the market
or cafe.

His castles surround him in decay,
a blanket of starless night.
He revels within their fallen walls,
there, he paints black canvasses -
plague guised as art,
applies finishing touches  -
God’s light, he claims,
then scurries off to fleece them
to unwitting peers.

Corinne, it takes a special person to see through the veils - you are that person.  Having a prelude to this poem does not hurt at all, but shows us the cleverness which you yourself can craft a piece of work so well.  I applaud you for undercovering this dastardly begger who would hide, but not.

Thank you.

This is a powerful poem, with vivid images. Who is this guy? I don't like him!

i don't agree with his or whoevers beliefs, but i think the write is interesting how one can get a point across.

It matters not how you answer, It matters only that i hear you.

(big hugggsssssss) Believe me, I have seen other poets do the same thing, and sometimes I just let them be unless they are liars or hypocrites, where then I reveal the truth and have them feel the shame! (sigh) God Bless You, sweet friend, this speaks so strongly, you go girl, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Corinne, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Yes, the "Rat" lives. There is always a rat, it seems.

hmmm

Intolerance may be our (Humans) downfall, I fear.
