Some, with hearts of bitterness
practice malice on their friends.
With eyes of God, some turn the cheek
and look for ways to make amends.
And others still will live and feel
through fantasy to make them real.

Some will find the pangs of love
will shock them to the very core.
And some will learn to change a heart
then from response, their hearts will soar.
And there are those who hide away
protect their hearts from "come what may."

Some will bear the price of love
will try and try to make it last.
Others, at a hint of pain
will fly away, heart overcast.
But there are those who do not live
and through denial won't forgive.

Some people walk the paths of truth
and share their hearts of love and more.
While other souls in bitterness
turn face away and close the door.
And yet there are a sundered few
too scared to live, to dreams pursue

These people never face the light
or learn of love with all its power;
for them the moments lost to love
are planned by distance, every hour
for these few  souls who hide within -
the sum of love can ne'er begin.

Here in the midst of my lonely abyss, a single joy I find...your presence in my mind.  Unknown

I think I've played all of these parts at one time or another. *S* This is an excellent summation, Keth. *S*

You certainly are one who keeps eyes, mind--and heart!--open! You have a wonderful overview of human behavior! Great write! Every reader is sure to see his or her self in there somewhere!

Warm hugs,
EA

Thanks to all those who responded, my work seems to dribble out the corners of my pen these days; so rather than inflict those dribbles on you I am looking to my own
archives for inspiration. It's amazing how many unfinished poems I have. Still if you've read something I've written before please let me know.
