Springtime is here, the mighty oak buds
time sure does fly
or is it the state of mind I am in
that makes me want to die
I feel like the lonesome sparrow
that just lost her mate to slingshot of a boy

Whispering wind, whispering wind
tell me why, she had to go
Oh, whispering wind, whispering wind
my baby’s gone and I am alone
you’re the one that can find her
tell her, I still love her.

Hear the lone wolf howling at the moon
he is calling on the wind
for his love so far away
in need of the happiness they had found
calling on the wind is my love still around?
This he needs to know
because he loves her so.

Whispering wind, whispering wind
tell me why, she had to go
Oh, whispering wind, whispering wind
my baby’s gone and I am alone
you’re the one that can find her
tell her, I still love her

This is so sad my heart can feel it intensely.  And beautifully written...thanks for sharing, I hope that helps you.

Kahlil, thank you. I wrote this in response to a song I was listening to.

My heart felt the pain of loss in this poem and goes out to you...I hope the Whispering Wind can soothe the hurt you feel....

Alan - it's amazing what one can write with an inspiration from somewhere, like a song...

It is amazing what is whispered in the wind, whether it be the softness of a calm and gentle breeze or the howling often found in the minutes just before a thunderstorm.  It is the "getting quiet with ourselves" when the answers come.  Shhh...listen to the wind.

The images you presented were seen vividly in mind.  Very lovely in conception and flow.

I have the advantage of having read, in one of your replies, that you wrote this in response to a song you had been listening too---good! Now I'm not sad!

The song of the sparrow was whispering in the wind--and into my soul...

Warm hugs,
Linda
