Another day of helpless laughter
To last a day or so,
Sure enough for each false memory
You think you need to know.

Through that tortured mask of smiles
Feelings of doubt and pain,
Silent voices, desperate cries,
A still untouched refrain.

Another day of running jokes
Upholds your living law.
Hours and minutes, safe enough
With the lies you learn to endure.

Your pose for the camera, shivering cold
If you dare to cease your ‘fun’,
To lose your smile, and see your heart
Fading with the sun.

pat,

just wanted to say thanks so much for reading this and all of the others, and for your positive feedback throughout. as you might have guessed, I'm totally new to this, and didn't have any idea about the guidelines. whoops! I'll be more careful in future; I didn't mean to break the rules!

anyway, thanks again,
pete.
