Fluff of Stuff

As day broke on this fifth of May,
fluff of stuff so calmly lay,
in cherished bond with yet unborn,
this fifth of May, this early morn…

and tender reflective tear in eye
of times and wayward gleams gone by
to a younger and a slighter me
in awe of wind-flung nest, babes three…

for one small fluff of stuff had dashed
too hard upon the earth, and rest…
but three babes in wait of mother’s love,
all they had? Two hands at best…

but father, yes, he knew what to do
as if by magic, a concocted brew
by smallest dropper slipped bird’s stew
bringing fluff to feathers, life, renewed…

~*~

Now, today, this nest is secure
mama’s around, and Dad is sure
to be at hand for all they need,
and I?  Sit back and watch their deeds

for nature is at it’s best, alone,
the strong survive; the weak, dethroned,
and we shall see babes seek new flight
some day soon, when it’s right.

Oh Karilea...you must think I need glasses...badly.
Now that the tornado watch has just about ended
and I feel calmer..and safer.
I can see the eggs have indeed hatched and I can even see a tiny eye unopened!!
Oh what a blessing!
Thank you so much for this...thank you dear lady.

Awwww! And you the surrogate mother. What a joy this was to read and see.

Thank goodness you are safe. The devastation I saw on TV absolutely broke my heart.
