I spent last night with the stars…

they played tag and then changed whimsically
to hide and seek, then led me, in a whispered giggle,
as we winked toward the Archer, who had the bear
in his sights, then
up and away onto Orion’s belt, then peeked below…

my hand traced the lion’s head, and in stride,
the stars and I stopped to play catch with Sirius,
who barked in gay enjoyment of the heavens,
as I tripped over spring’s nightlights,
toward dawn.

I held on intimately
to the hungry morning star, all shimmer
and real,
then stair-stepped myself back down
off the clouds, come back
to join the stars,
and came off the imagination of a dreamer,

into the sincerity
of the redbird’s song, the town’s rooster of daybreak,
it seems,
who herded me back to bed, to awake,

in wonder.

If the dog barks tonight,
you’ll know where to find me.

a very nice write,  i love the stars at nite,

or seen a shooting star streaking across the dark night sky, with twinkling stars winking as it passes by.

It matters not how you answer, It matters only that i hear you.

Beautifully Expressed. The Stars inspire my Poetry and Influence my Dreams as well.
Thanks for sharing this.

"Standing under moonbeams
Looking over mars
Inward, dreams curving
Outward to the stars

Exploring lost cultures
Through ancient avenues
Cascading worlds of color
Illuminating views

Above,
a heavenly vision
Beyond,
a celestial chart
Within,
the opening passage
Returning to the Sacred Heart"

Ah dear Lady...
So good to see you here today!!
And..you have not lost your magic touch I see.

The stars at night
Are big and bright
Sane guideposts in a zany world.

Nicejob.  KJ

Through rubble and trouble and dark of night
The yawn of a dawn will hasten the light

Every single night there is a clear sky I look for a "particular star" and I am never dissappointed in the dreams following that exercise.  I loved this one, but then you knew I would didn't you?
