What’s a Mother?

What’s a mother to do?
He says he’s lost his shoe,
and his mittens are all gone;
they disappeared at dawn.

Then sheslipped on the ice,
not once, but really twice.
She was skating in her socks
around our city blocks.

I asked them,
“What were you thinking?”
Aghast, they stood unblinking.
Reminding me, they were,
I’m telling you, fer sure,
of deer in headlight’s glare
for all they did was stare.

“To bed with you my kids,
before I flip my lid;
your mother, I’ll always be,
just let me have a spot of tea.

Then together we will search
across the land, or more,
but likely we will find
all ‘neath your bed, and on the floor.”

Whether on the shoal or on the shore,
I'll seek the lighthouse evermore.

I can relate to it well.....YES,  definitely

Awwwww, so cute (and soooo true!)

When you think you have heard it all,
listen more closely.

Virginia,

Yes, you captured children and their behavior perfectly....and the secret hiding place...for all lost items...

(their only 'not my fault' is that washing machine which really does seem to eat socks, one of a pair, of course)....

Love this, enjoyed, Pat
