Rescue Me

I’m the screaming pin drop inside the heart of that proverbial Snow White
sleeping in wait ‘neath glass dreams and moon beams
choking on the apple core of failed expectations,
poisoned by the fantasy that my white knight exists.

I am restless, exhausted by the search,
I am my own worst enemy -
for, I believe.

Pathetic
how in between the recycled serenade
and pity for the wounded minstrel
as he picks the scabs from his old affairs,
I trust in what he decrees me to be;
And I conform, become the cliché of the masses,
thinking that I can turn a pauper into a prince.

Here I am, in strut of pose, an imposter,
insecure in masked allure.
I’ll wear the gown, the lips, the heels
I’ll be your martyr and moan your praise.
I'll make a deal not to feel
and spread for you, shallow skin submission.
It’s almost midnight, claim me now before I turn into a pumpkin.

I’ve sold my own spirit
and broken my own promises.
I’ll settle for less, entertain in jest,
so cut me out as a paper doll
stitch my chest with silicone,
tape me up and dye me blonde.

But, what’s forever for?
if it dries up faster than a kiss,
when marriage and divorce
is 50/50 success?
Someone should tell Mother Goose
this fairytale is a mess

Rescue me,
force the happy ending,
dissipate the tears and tell me the lies,
I am your willing maiden, I’ll change for you.

Save me, love me, fill the need,
ride me off into the sunset,
turn my world to black and white,
turn the void of fake delight.
I’ll even lick your burns
and let the salt drip my eyes
until I finally see.

All I ask is that you rescue me
from me.

Fabulous. I love the links with Nursery Rhymes and Fairy Tales.

Nice one

I'm torn between the hope/need for 'true love' and the cold truths of a world that keep me from deluding myself that it exists.
Great write for would be princesses and princes alike.

Melissa:

you are quickly becoming one of my favorites - the words you bleed
encompass so very much of my own
and yes . . .  a painful ride at that
it is . . .
But please - if you ever dye that lovely hair - just DONT lol

All I ask is that you rescue me
from me.

A HUGE request - I am still trying to accomplish this myself

Excellent writing missy
this one got me deep
xxoo

Melissa,
I would if I could but there is no need
You are a blossom not a seed.
Your capture would be a coup for
You are a blue rose through and through.

Melissa - this writing is so open and with honest feelings from you it just amazes me with it's tenderness and longing. I can't find enough words on how this touched me...

Melissa, even if this has a touch of
sadness, it is still so beautiful.

I hope you don't decide to leave from around here again. I'm liking your writing and would hate to miss it.

Hugs to you,
Ethel

(sigh) Oh Melissa, magic can happen but also fairy tales should never be taken literally, we only learn from the illustrations and artifacts but not of the characters own wills, then we tend to seek deeper away from ourselves and only personifying the ruby slippers in our size will make the whole experience mesmerizing and larger than life! (big hugggssssss) Hope all is well with you, sweet friend, I send angel hugs your way, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Melissa, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shien upon you!

Love,

Honeybee,
I shall not rescue you from your world of hope and believing, the place you are generates such beauty for us all to share in, you write many pictures from the heart, which I most enjoy. The heart will mend and the body will drain of the poison, you shall ride the carriage to many more balls and meet many more princes. Stay with us in this fairytale of sharing and the fantasy; that tomorrow things will be brighter and better.
I really enjoyed this work, stay well and happy.

Sincerely
Rick
