Listening to every heart

0 posted 2003-05-04 08:18 AM

Words that Remain

I believe I have read it now,
Fourteen or twenty-four times,
As his solemn words keep
Poking my heart, his
Belief in
                Path
                                       God
                                                                Plan

With all of the unknown before him,
He knew he would go Home,

                                                                With Faith,

And, by his decision.

What he did, he did for his country,

                                        His unit,
                                                                His family.

I read it over and over again, to see any sign
Of remorse in his decision
To duty.

I could not find it.

In today’s media
There are no strangers, any more…

Only family members,

                                        Sons & Daughters,

                                                                 Husbands & Wives

Who still believe in their country,
Who are not ashamed to do their best,
And give it their all.

God bless them, and God bless you,
The Veteran,
Who once stepped in their place,
And left a trail for them to follow.

We need good heroes.

This Pfc. left room for others to follow.

This is our history, try as we may to change it ~
For those times we cannot,
May we never forget,
And thank God
For giving us

The brave ones.

Karilea,

The tears and sobs are coming now.  This is so beautiful.  I am going to go now and cry this thing out in my room so the kids don't keep asking me what is wrong.

Beautiful write, I loved the way you spaced out the words. Well done.

Take care

A grateful poem that touches us all.
Thank you for this, and the honor you bestow on American heros who have fought for our freedom and left their mark in history.

This is a very lovely write;  sometimes only sadness can coax our writing to its utmost.  This soldier's lot is indeed sad, but how he lives in his letter and in our words.  KJ

Hah, I knew it wouldn't be long before I read more of your work.  You're on my top five list of poets I look for when I'm logged on.  I read your poem with all those images of the war in my head.  For once, I'm at a loss for words because you have said all that was needed to be
said.

a very nice tribute "K"  it was heart felt1!

heres one i had posted a while back,

Distant sounds rumbling in the night.
Flashes glow in the glimmering sky,
as dawn shows a silhouette of smoke.
Breezes drift the stench of burning.
The dawn paints no portraits of those
left in the darkness of terror and war.

It matters not how you answer, It matters only that i hear you.

Well, darn if I didn't have to run and grab a hand full of tissues. Your poem touched my heart and brought many emotions and his letter home brought a flood of tears.

God bless his heart and his family.

Thank you for sharing this with us.

Huggles and blessings, Marti

Karilea, tears welled in my eyes as I read your beautiful--and very moving--words but the floodgates were opened and the tears fell in torrents as I read about Diego and saw the photos. He is but one "statistic", but his face is emblazoned across by memory and my heart. God bless him and his family. God bless you and yours.

Warm hugs,
Linda
