My friends all went home,
now I'm all alone.
No one to talk to,
I'm stuck on a poem,
well actually three.
Another night without sleep
can't be helping me.
Exhaustion overtakes me,
but I won't be giving in.
Eyes straining to see,
no chance I could read,
and well, I hate TV.
So I sit here again,
by myself yet again,
Writing this for who?
And for what?
Words are truly wasted,
when the reader's disinterested,
and the writer just doesn't care.

Words are NEVER waisted...and I'm sure you know this and was just elaborating on your mood, lol.

I do not know whether I was then a man dreaming I was a butterfly, or whether I am now a butterfly dreaming I am a man.

KoKo,
He he, I'm just glad to hear from you KoKo. My poems are almost always an elaboration of my mood, so you would be correct.

Well, I'm with Koko on this - words are NEVER wasted. Heck, I've got piles of poetry lying around that NO ONE has ever seen but me - and I don't even consider them wasted, because SURELY someone will one day see them, even if it's after I've kicked the bucket. And you know, sometimes it helps NO ONE but the writer to write it all down. Better to write than to strangle your cat when he's minding his own business, you know?

I don't see you as having cats though.

I know what you mean though - it sucks when you really want to write, and NOTHING, I mean NOTHING comes out. *sigh*  I did that for DAYS just a few days ago. Once again, you did a great job writing down your feelings. I love your style because it's so "matter of fact" in a very manly way - it does something for me!!!!!

I'll be back to say more in just a bit, ok? Um...I HOPE you're sleeping right now!!

Told you I'd be back. You know me!

This is so sad - lemme tell you, that "writing this for who? and for what?"...I did that a few days ago. Look me in the eye, and KNOW that I know what you're talking about here, ok? I do know and I feel ya man.

Oh, and trying to FORCE poetry, gives you hemmoroids, so don't push it, ok? Somedays, you just have to go without writing, and before you know it, your heart feels something and aaaahhhh, it all comes out SMOOTHLY on it's own!

Okay, that little story coming from a mermaid like myself is VERY unattractive, huh? LOL!  I'm so sorry, please forgive! *giggling*

Hey, where do you find a dog with no legs?

Gennifer,
Aaaghhh!!! I don't know how, but I forgot all about posting this poem and never saw your messages- till now

Ha ha, I rip up poetry all the time! But only when I destroy the idea with the words, and then I immediately write a new one with the same idea and emotion. So I guess that doesn't count? Anyways, do you really have stashes of poetry? Oh my! I almost never write my poems by hand, just keyboard, and when I do, I always destroy the written version. I don't want anyone finding them and telling me how bad they are I suppose [shrugs]. And its not right to keep all those marvelous poems of yours locked away collecting dust where no one gets to see them. What a waste!

And no I don't have any cats, thank you! Just a butterfly I like animals, but I'm not the kind of guy who lives alone in his apartment with cats. I definately don't want to be that kind of guy either LOL

Yes I hate the dry spells. Ha, I never wrote a poem in my life before two months ago, and now going a day without writing one, or at least working on one is so hard and so fustrating to me. What a change!

"Once again, you did a great job writing down your feelings."  -Thank you, that's all I really care about

I shall write more I think

Yup I shall:

I am aware you know what I am talking about. You showed me that with your poem? Guess I just wasn't thinking too clearly from lack of sleep. Sorry about that.

"I love your style because it's so "matter of fact" in a very manly way - it does something for me!!!!!"  -Hmmm, if I didn't know better I might think a certain mermaiden was flirting with me. Just kidding

Hemmoroids, thanks like I don't have enough to worry about LOL Don't worry about me, I can't push my poetry, and my heart is always feeling something. [Rollercoaster ride remember ] Often I have the opposite problem of having to many things to want to write about. But if I wrote them all, I'd have no time to do anything else. My writing is getting a bit more complicated and its taking too much strain on me lately. I am going to have to write some simple ones. This one was like that, it relaxed me and didn't drain me at all. The one I'm writing now, oh man. Its killing me, I work on it for 20 minutes and I'm completely spent. Usually poetry gives me energy, but this thing is sucking me dry. I just hope its worth the effort. If it comes out bad, oh man!!! I never spent more than 2 days on a poem before, and most take about 5-20 minutes. So this is really different for me. Oh well, it will either be my best poem yet or a complete disaster. Right now, it feels like the latter.
I've written other poems in the last couple of days, but haven't posted them, cause they are not very good. Not enough strength left to put much into them, plus one of them would get censored for sure. Grrrrr!

Oh and how could you make that joke about the dog with no legs? I don't even have any legs!!!
