* * * *

My friend is like the bark
That wraps around an old oak tree
He gives me warmth and shelter
And knows the deepest part of me

My friend can be relied upon
Any hour of any day
He will always lend an ear
When I have something to say

My friend will give me love
And guide me through the storm
In his arms I'll be protected
His love alone will keep me warm

My friend is such a treasure
For his heart is made of gold
We'll remain the best of friends
As the two of us grow old

My friend will dry my tears
And lift my spirits high
He gives me newfound confidence
And he's given me wings to fly

My friend gives me direction
He remains my guiding light
I cannot live without him
He is the left hand to my right

"When the willow bends at the
first hint of troubled breezes,
our friends come running
to see how they can help.
Sometimes friends know
when they are needed
even before we realise it ourselves,
because we are accustomed to
letting them in on the
happenings of our lives"

I am in motion
I am blue
Love is an ocean
I'm anchored in you

Suetang:  Not only do we have the ocean in common, but feelings about people we care about.  My "My Friend" poem is currently on the 4-28-03 page.  Way different poems, but similar thoughts... I loved this one of yours, it's very sweet.  ~K~

Noah

Thanks ever so much for your lovely words.

That's amazing that you have written a poem with the same title.  I'm going to have a look now.  Two minds think alike!

Take care......Sue

Sue,

Another wonderful piece.  I love the flow of your words, they just seem to float off the page.  Equally as wonderful are the works of the artist reflecting your work.  I have to ask, which comes first; the picture or the poem?

Thank you for sharing.

Sue, this is so heartfelt and almost made me cry. If we go through life with one special friend, it is indeed a blessing.

I loved this and am adding it to 'your collection' in my special poem book.

Hugs sweetie ... Marti
