One Day

Should just one day but live again;
But one day of the thousands flown;
-- Be it the day my eyes had lain
Upon You -- the Queen on Beauty's throne.

Should I only one day choose --
But one to last eternal while
-- The one You did my shield defuse;
The day I yielded to your smile.

If a single day my World should reign --
The day our hearts had become one;
Those days, my Love, shall one remain --
-- One I greet with the rising Sun.

What a great poem!  The person of whom you speak is a very lucky person to have someone to love so romantically.

Very Passionate! Thanks for sharing.

Thank you everyone for such a warm and inviting welcome - you have made my day.

Yes, the Romantics are my favourite poets, and I do prefer to write in meter and rhyme (or at least, make an attempt to... ).

Again, thank you, and look forward to reading the many great poems posted here.
