Calling All Poets

Calling all poets who speak of love
Where is my “ever after” your verses tell of?
Whisper your secrets, confide in me.
Are your verses born of fantasy?
Dreams evoked in a subconsious state
Birthed when pen and paper mate.
Is that where love affairs originate?
Visions of mind that pensively await
The caress of pen in soft, even glide
As methodical gives way to desire’s ride.
Of paper and pen held close by your side
Passion brought forth when the two collide.

Calling all poets, please answer my cries.
Is it only in verse where true love lies?
Is it pen in hand that gently gives rise?
Is love nothing more than verse in disguise?

Sorry Patricia, but yes, mine are born of fantasy.  Fairy-tale love is always better on paper.  *sighs*  That's why little girls love story books so much - don't ever give up on fairy tales though, because sometimes they do come true. This is a lovely read, in a sad sort of way. LOVED it!

Patricia, wow! I read this with mouth agape! A lovely poem, and a question I would love to have answered myself. Sigh...for some reason, I feel optimistic for once and can't help but hope that true love like this can exist on more than just paper. But who can tell unless they themselves have found it, right?

      God Bless Patricia

A beautiful poem, Patricia, and a thought provoking one.

To answer -- my own "ever after" verses are inspired by the one and only love in my life; my passion and love for her - drive my pen.

Well done.

Dear Patricia,

A love as pure as diamonds have ever been
does exist, I myself have seen
the 'ever after' you're looking for
is out there in full galore

The true love I adore to describe
does sometimes tend to hide
don't worry though, it will find your way
and the happiness you'll meet will always stay

Lovely write, kelly

I like this part the most. It echoes my thoughts of love. I'm always wondering if true love is really achievable. Maybe it's just the fairy tales we grew up with? Maybe it's just idealism? But I guess we never know until we've found it.

Oh yes, the Love I write about is so real
it's very hard for me to put all our feelings on paper.
I can understand where you are coming from, though,
because I never thought Love could possibly be this
good. I hope that one day you will experience
a love like I share with my Honey-Love.
I'm going to look for some of my links in case
you haven't read any of them. I really like the
way you wrote this poem. It seems to be an honest
question and not just a poke at us romantics.

Pat,

In much of your poetry I've read of healing, changing and becoming more than we were....I, an idealist, when writing, do go for the gold, the perfect mate, perfect Cinderella ending....

Ah, the joy of creating 'it' the way we'd like.

I do realistically however, believe it takes much work to keep it.  But, also I believe romantic love cannot be defined or humanly created; when there, it just ~is~...

Some have it, some never do....being ready for ~it~, I believe the best thing we can do....

Like this questioning and thought provoking poem.

Enjoyed, Hugs Pat

I thoroughly enjoyed this Patricia... I especially like poems that ask questions...

And your questions we’re very meaningful, as was your message...

I’m going to post a poem I wrote called “The Language Of Love.”

I was inspired by your poem to add two additional (the first two) stanzas...

Thanks again Patricia for the inspiration!

Take Care,

Richy

Probably too pragmatic for my own good, I still hold on to the better of my thoughts, and ramblins...just because I'm so stubborn!

Enjoyed this Patricia.  Thank you!

my nearest and dearest
ignores all that I write
so yes I do often take my pen
on a fantasy flight

Someday your answer will come quite clear
as fantasy becomes true to life
Maybe not in a day or this year
but will be worth all the pain and strife

Keep love alive in your nightly dreams
holding it close with gentle passion
You'll gaze into eyes shimmering gleams
and swoon from love's honest confession

Being a dreamer myself, I used to ask this very same question...it seemed the wait was forever but now it seems I have basked in love for a lifetime and the waiting is all forgotten....BEAUTIFUL POEM...

Thank you everyone so much for your replies on this one.  For some it seems, their poetry is where the love affair lies and for others, they have lived the exquisiteness of their words.  This helps me so much.  Right now, I will retreat to the passion of the word...reading ericc and bill charles to my heart's content. Even Ms. Regards 2 You threw one in there to my delight.  It will happen in time...Richy as much as said so, and I believe him.  Ethel, you got your love, and I am so happy for you.  I have to be patient, something I have precious little of to my dismay.

To all the great poets(and I mean great!!!!) who responded to this verse, thank you from the bottom of my sometimes confused soul.  Thank you for being here.  This place (the forum) has meant a lot to me.  It is now a part of my life...a place where I laugh and cry and yes, get a dose of romance as well.

Sunshine, you made me boo-hoo big time this morning...not just a few tears either.  Big time...let the cries be freed stuff.

Thanks so much to everyone...

-Patricia
