I remember a smile you wore,
Thinking that it might be for me,
But it’s not there anymore,
At least not for me to see
For you have passed by me
As if looking for something more.
Do you wear it for others still,
If others look will it be found?
Is there warmth others can feel,
And for me you now wear a frown?
Yes, I can guess your unhappiness
Is centered directly on me,
Me, the cause of all your sadness,
Though, once I used to make you happy,
I remember a smile you wore,
But it’s not there anymore.

This almost has a lyrical quality to it Prof.
Sometimes, smiles are worn inside perhaps?
Very nice write of emotional ponderings.

I must have had my momma's will

Thank you, Gentle Spirit,
Many smiles have passed beyond me,
All my own fault I’m sure,
Yet I remember each fondly.

Pleased you enjoyed my words

And sometimes the smile isn't there but it isn't really your fault!!!!

Thank you, Justbleu,
Glad you liked my words enough to comment,
But once again, it probably is my fault,
And perhaps,
Just perhaps there are smiles I don’t see;
I seldom look anymore.

Oh, please, do look Professor...
I think I see another smile,
just for you...

Thank you, Sunshine,
I am sure there is always a smile in your direction,
or mostly there is,
but I refer to ones in my realm, this neighborhood of shadows
where your shining smile reaches not.
A pleasure as always to see your response.
