Your Sweetness,
fresher than newly
blossomed spring
betrays my heart
utterly, bitterly
with this longing

I beg you,
do not smile for me
nor term me endearing
for I have sworn an oath
that frees me of your
beauty

Your eyes make mockery
of my resolve
intensely burning beacons
ever guiding whenever
I am fortunate enough
to forget

Please, release
this tortured soul

Let me be as stone
to you
A sculpture untouchable,
unreachable
Here
is where this love
shall remain

Forever memorialized...

Sunkissed.

It's good to know when to let it be
and walk away, than to perpetuate
something that can never be.

Memories give way to the hearts silent keep,

Much enjoyed your thoughts Sunkissed~

Bluesy said it well...

Sunkissed,

The title says so much. The poem, I read three times and it touched me deeper each time.  I love this.
Hugs, Pat
