     How long has it been
since you died in my arms,
how long since your warmth filled my soul?

Why is it now that we're real worlds apart,
I still feel you by me when I'm all alone?

Why in a crowd do I see your small form
     moving quickly like smoke through a screen;
how do you borrow the face of a stranger
just to smile at me through her eyes?

How does my sense for you stay so alive
that I still hear you laugh in my dreams?

why are these tears in my eyes as I write,
     it's thirty-five years that you're gone.

This is so sad. But it is an awesome poem.

years don't wash away such pains as those.

You write from someplace deeper than many..and find the words well to give birth to the feelings and expressions...

excellent work...as is all I have read by you. My compliments to the Poet... my understanding for the feelings.

That's a deep inner heart pain that will never go away, but would you really want it to?
I think not. She remains a vital beating piece of your heart. I hope she knew that in her heart before leaving this world.

Mr. Icebox,

This is so beautiful and sorrowful at once.  The tears are falling from my eyes.

"Why in a crowd do I see your small form
moving quickly like smoke through a      screen?  How do you borrow the face of a stranger just to smile at me through her eyes?"

I am speechless.

If I agree to grow up, can I write like this?
I'm really glad you found your way to these pages.  Enjoyed...as always.

Very touching sad piece, its possible because our loved ones no matter how long they have passed are around us all the time everyday, everysecond watching over us. Love doesnt die with death. Wonderful writing thankyou for sharing

the_loner_23 ~ Thank you for reading my poem and for taking time to comment.

Cpat Hair ~ Your comments are a great kindness.  Thank you.

Seymour Tabin ~ Good way to put it. *smile* Thank you for reading my poem.

Martie ~ Yes, my friend, I know you do.  You are welcome.

James Michael ~ *smile* That part never ceases to amaze me.  I would swear that it is coming into my eyes from the outside and not just something my mind imagines.  Thank you for reading and for your comments.

Midnitesun ~ What you say is true; we are the sum of our parts, our life experience mixed with whatever understandings we can manage.  I will not know in this life if she knew; I hope so.  Thank you for reading my poem and for your comments.

22NICK22 ~ I do not know whether I should thank you, or suggest that you read more poets, or ask someone to bring you a cold drink. *grin* Your's is a very generous statement.  Thank you and thank you for reading my poem.

Patricia ~ I hope by now your tears have dried and that you feel better. *smile* Thank you for reading this and for your comment.

Duncan ~ Gee, I don't know; I bet you can.  Are you sure you want to? *smile* You can thank (or blame) BluesSerenade for me being here.  She gave me a great gift by suggesting that I visit this place.  Thank you for your comments.

whiskey ~ Yes, I think that love does not die with death.  It dies from starvation and it dies from betrayal but it does not perish from death itself.  Thank you for reading this and for taking time to comment.

Edder ~ I do not know really, I just try to understand.  Thank you for reading my poem and for your comment.

I don't think real love dies at all...
it stays in touch by its memories.

Yes, and in some ways it is stronger, but in other ways it is a pale aching shadow of itself.
Thank you for reading and for your comment.
