End upon my shoulder
ignoring its presence,
feel it closing in.
This weight crushes,
grinding my being,
overwhelming strain.
Snapping inside I give way.

Demise filling me,
cancer within my soul,
feel it reach out and clutch
as all I cherish falls away.
Demons and angels battle above,
for a soul already lost.
Freefalling into self,
there's nowhere else to go.

Mike,

"Demons and angels battle above,
for a soul already lost."

Let the angels win, Mike.  They will comfort you and restore your soul!  I truly want you to break free of the torment.  I have thought a great deal about you.  You feel so deeply.  That is a good thing.  But I wish you would feel joy in your soul.  I don't know if this all has to do with Kristen (I remember a poem you wrote concerning a lost love, I believe her name was Kristen.  Forgive me if I am wrong.)  I have one of those lost loves too.

If you don't mind, my friend, I will pray for you.  And I will know when your torment has been released...because it will shine in your beautiful art!

Love,
Patricia

Oh boy oh boy...this just tears at me. This could be SO many things. And I too, loved the line where demons and angels battle for a soul already lost. *big sighs* WOW is all I can say to your writing. MORE MORE!!

Yes, but...if the soul were already lost there would be no battle...

there is hope when there is no place to go, but up...by our own willingness and bootstraps...

I love this for the pain, so real, and yet the opportunity left of hope... an optimist, that  is me....

Very talented write,

Hugs and God's blessings, Pat

Dear Patricia,
Wow! Your reply has left me speechless. I am struggling for words here. Thank you, your concern overwhelms me. You were thinking about ME? Why? But I must admit it makes me happy you were

Actually, I have been struggling to write a positive poem, for I have begun feeling so much better lately. But the words don't come easy to me, probably because there have been so few positive emotions for me since I started writing in early March. I think I turned to writing to release all of the personal angst that was bottled so tight I was ready to explode. I've had plenty of reasons to practice writing dark poetry since then LOL But I don't want you to worry for me, because I really think things are becoming brighter in my soul. I feel...warmth in here I haven't felt in quite a while. And yes, I think it will be reflected in my work. Though expect some lousy poems, for writing about happiness and content, I have never done so before. I guess I will try to let my emotions flow on paper, and just take it from there

And as for my Angel he he, she is still my Angel. It was only my personal fears and doubts stemming from a misunderstanding [all on my part] that led me to think otherwise. I am too paranoid, but I am working on that as well.

Oh pray for me please, thank you! I will pray for you too, of course. Thank you for being a true friend

           Mike

P.S.-I guess I got over the speechlessness, huh?

Dear Pat,
Oh my thank you. I really thought nobody would like this poem. I wrote it a couple of days back, and was going to toss it, when I decided to fix it up and post it instead. Oh so good to be optimistic, I feel so too right now I must admit. Your words lighten my soul

HUGS* and my God bless you as well Pat

Great write, Mike.
While you freefall in your self ... may you discover your higher self ... you surely will and the battle will be won by the Angel(s) ...

Jesus...it feels like my soul is crying...You have my vote, Mike.

Oh KoKo, I don't want you to feel badly! This is the sort of post I tremble to receive. Oh I so want to sit down and write a poem that will leave people smiling and happy, but I fail every time. Of course I am happy you liked my poem, and I guess every poet loves to hear their work moved someone, but I don't want to make anyone else unhappy even for a second. Please forgive me if I did that to you.

You are such a special person. I am going to try to write something happy to make up for making your soul feel pain.

         Mike
