Arrogance was never my strong suit
and in your faults I too often found my merits-
a prowess in the language of love is all I possess.
How finely tuned your perception to the material
an advocate of the inanimate-
inanimate but enticingly intrinsic;
leaving untouched and greying the sentimental
that which makes us human,
that which separates us from the mammalian desires.
Fundamentally, you breathe,
and essentially, you reason
a reliance on the religion of matter.
How then can I allow such close encounter
the warmth of a kiss,
breath irrevocably tracing a name on my stomach;
me, the visionary, poet, idealist.
How then can I allow my muse to love you so
that she spills her blood in an ageless repetition
of your grace, faults, beauty?
To say that I would die for you
is simply
not enough.

Enjoyed...a friend of mine was telling me on the phone last night that his girlfriend said something similar to this..."Do you want me to die for you to prove my love."
I think that a little extreme...James

To be honest, that wasn't at all what the poem was about. If that was the impression you got, then I need to rewrite lol.

This is interesting.....
I often find it cool that from poetry many interpretations can arise!!!!
