her hand
finds me
through
the warm
darkness

she
still
sleeping
unaware

the warmth
of it, the
barest
touch

try not to
stir,
to wake,
change the
dream

fingers
curl,
a tiny
sleeping
sigh of
her....

Ed,

Such tender love....this is precious in it's sensitivity;  heart touching.

Enjoyed greatly, Hugs, Pat :

This is quietly amazing

Ed...Sometimes the softest touch brings the greatest joy.  Tenderness falls from your pen this morning.  Tis nice!

Ed, nicely worded, just as softly written as the feel of her touch.

The stars will shine when I am gone,
the earth will turn on as before,
the gulls, still race along the shore,
the morning star, still kiss the dawn

I believe that this is the first poem of yours that I have read and I have to say it is terrific. I love the gentleness and loving thoughts. I am going to look for more of your poems.

Thank you, thank you....When I first joined this group three months ago, I'd never written poetry that expressed my soft side, only the hard masculine stuff. I've always had that side, but now I've learned that it's all right to talk about it.

In fact, it feels good.

Ed, you were writing your response to another reply while I was posting my reply. I didn't read what you had written bfore I wrote mine.

I'd like to say that I admire a man that has enough confidence in himself to show his softer side. That's one of the many things that I love about my Honey-Love. He writes poetry to me, just like I do to him.
Hugs,
Ethel

Yep, and that's what I learned here -- confidence. I had essentially stopped writing, because with no audience I had no confidence.

Now I've learned that there's a lot I can do that I have never done before as a writer, and that it's ok.

....including that it's ok to come back and edit, to add that in the last three months, I've written more poems than I had in the previous 30 years...

This is the kind of reality that dreams are made of. *S* To say this is beautiful is to use an inadequate vocabulary... but you have indeed written a lovely moment of tenderness. *S*

Oh Ed, this is so soft, so beautiful.  I've read a few poems of yours already and I'm fast falling in love with your style and romantic flavour.  I'm saving this one as well
