The righteous are all but dead
I hear the walls shout
"but not I "
smile beating my chest
then they at once begin
vomiting years of untold atrocities
over and over
never stopping
horrid blasphemy
hidden sins
dark secrets
all too terrible to mention
naming names
mothers, fathers, preachers, presidents
all

I wait for my name
just for curiosity's sake
when I hear silence
I feel my self righteous state
wholly justified
so I begin
donning dime store halo
then it begins
rushing
like a stampeded
herd
or rushing like a river
so many things flooding
words
letters
syllables
all attached with my name
blasphemies
evil thoughts
now portrayed loudly

I begin to weep
tears fall
to the floor
on knees wail
weeping
washing

Halo's fall
echoes through
empty halls
as I sit reconsider
preconceived eternal destinies
wiping my tears with tainted
bloodied hands

Surely as time creeps by
and many a day
falls away
megalomania re appears
i remembered the day
the walls talked
and my aspirations of divinity
do soon disappear

Oh yes, Brad, such insight here!  Can't tell you how many times I thought my halo was glued on there, and then something reminds me that I need to do some soul-searching! This is magnificent, and something that I really truly appreciate!!!
