As we write our hearts
in our poetry
Do the ones of us who read
really take time to see

The hurt or confusion
inside the writer may feel
Sometimes not fantasy
but aches that are real

I'm speaking not of times
that we write about
When thinking of our Love
so much we laugh and shout

But speaking of the times
when feeling from deep inside
That it would feel much better
to run away and hide

I know that to myself
this poem does surely speak
And not only to others
the thoughts would seem to seek

For I want to truly feel
others words in my heart
Then maybe I can help with
an encouraging word to start

A tender and loving heart
seems everyone has here
Writing not always with a smile
but sometimes with a tear
~~~~~~
The "E" in Ethel, must also stand for "Empathetic".  This sensitive and loving poem perfectly illustrates what a caring heart you truly do have.
"E"xtra big hugs for you being you!
A good poet will not only seek to be understood, but to understand. To reach into the heart of the writer, pull out the contents and decipher what it all means. Thats why the ones written with tears are so painful.. thats what I think anyway.
Enjoyed this
Ethel,
I looked all over for this.
I agree with Linda..You have a big loving heart and your empathy and compassion always shine through...
And, it is hard to answer some of these poems for you never know if written from the heart or the mind, current or ever...a real event...
better to stay on the safe side than do more harm.....
This is a wonderful poem filled with reminders...
Hugs to you, Love, Pat
Ethel, this is so very much like you..
taking the time to listen and lend an ear
to one who is sad or down, and has written about it, takes so little time, and just may help to cheer them up a bit.
Very nicely said sweet poetess.
Very true Ethel. Poets often want us to read "between the lines."  Well done, and I enjoyed this. hugs, Chris
(tears fall down my cheeks) Oh Ethel, God Bless You, sweet friend, I think the E in your first name also stands for Empathetic! (big hugggssssss) I believe God gave me my name for a reason, because it means "comfort" and I want all the world to live in comfort and that ones tears can become golden from anothers love! (wipes tears) You have an angelic heart and because of that, you deserve extra special angel hugs for this wonderful poem, God Bless You, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Ethel, thank you for sharing!
May love and light always shine upon you!
Love,
Noah Eaton
And that's the most wonderful thing about creating. It will always be a mystery.
Ethel, I love this. You've done a wonderful job here.
Thomas,
I couldn't seem to get that part just right
when I wrote it. I just didn't want anyone to
think I was lecturing them. This poem
was to myself first. Thank you for liking it.
.
.
Thank you, Linda,
I really do care about the feelings of other
people. I know how it feels to get my feelings
hurt. Even if I get hurt or angry, though,
it doesn't seem to ever last for very long.
The child in me likes to laugh and play
too much for me to stay angry.  LOL
.
.
Alyssa,
I believe so, too. Mpst writers who write from the heart reveal secret things on their
poems, I think. Sometimes when they don't intend
to reveal some things, when they write the
secrets just start tumbling out, it seems. Thank you.
.
.
Heart hugs to you all,
Ethel
Pat,
thank you so much. I know. It is hard sometimes
to reply to poems. I hesitate at my first reaction
a lot. I'm finding out, though, that mostr writers write
from personal feelings even if the actual event
didn't happen. They have something woithin that prompts
the write, I think.....unless it's a completely
fictional story like some of our great poets
around here write. Even then, though, their personalities
shine through.
And, oh yes, we need to be careful about what we say.
Sometimes we can do more harm than good, when
we really have no intentions of doing harm.
Thank you, friend.
.
.
Chris,
I believe that, too.When things are too hard to
come right out and say, people tend to try to hide
behind their words, I think.
Thank you, friend, for liking my poem.
.
.
Noah, you are one of the most tender-hearted
and compassionate people I've ever known.
I can tell that you sincerely care about how
people feel, too. You are like me and don't
want to hurt anyone's feelings. And, when
they are already hurt, you want to help
them to be happy and to smile again.
Thank you for being YOU friend.
.
.
Heart Hugs to you all
KoKo,
thank you so very much
I'm really glad that you liked
it. I really do appreciate
you saying that.
.
.
Marti,
thank you very, very much. You are
the one who is so sweet and loving.
It shows through all your poetry
and your replies.
.
Hi Mr. Toe
It sure is good to see you here.
We really miss you when you don't
come around more often.
Thank you for liking my poem. I'm glad.
.
.
Heart hugs to you all,
Ethel
Often I am brought to tears as I listen with my heart to the words I read...When talented poets such as you write it is impossible to not feel your words...in joy and pain...Beautifully written from the heart of a true poet...**hugs**
