~*~

the clock has just struck four
i'm tired, so very, very tired
the lids of my eyes are becoming heavy
and I can barely keep them open
my breathing is slower, deep and even
the rhythmic cadence is drawing me
nearer to the brink of obscurity
from which there is no return
my nodding head begs to be laid to rest
it is increasingly difficult to function
but function I must for I have work to do
and responsibilities that are mine alone
i must not succomb to nature's bidding
but oblivion threatens to overtake me
it's quiet, so very, very quiet
my hold on reality is slipping
i'm falling into the
downward spiral
deeper and deeper
zzz...zzz...zzz...
zzz...zzz...
zz...

I take it you'd rather be IN a shift at midnight, than ON a shift at midnight.....

Midnitesun ~

Those night shifts at the hospital were sooo hard on my constitution! 4:00 a.m. is when most of the deaths occurred because that is when our blood sugar levels are usually at their lowest. Undoubtedly, when I was at my lowest energy level as well, a heart monitor would sound that a patient was going into cardiac arrest--and I wasn't far behind them! I had to call on all my energy reserves--and FAST!

Love & Light,
Linda

Oh, you can say that again! A nice, comfy shift to lounge in, would have been mighty inviting...

yawn......

And I thought I'd finally scraped all the sandman's offerings from my eyes! LOL Now I'm sleepy again! *G*

Isn't it one of life's little ironies that when we can't sleep, we want to desperately... then we get the chance to sleep and lie wide-eyed? *G*

Enjoyed this much, EA! *S*

Linda,

This is wonderful and quite frankly I was getting into some deeper meanings and then you brought me right back to reality with the ending...

Love it.  Hugs, Pat

(big hugggsssssss) Ever since I was a little boy, I have always hated the darkness, and because I had nightmares and seizures almost every night, I always try and stay up until the early morning then go to sleep late through the morning so I can be acquainted with the night, the night can forgive me! (sigh) This is wonderfully said, sweet friend, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Linda, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Love,
Noah Eaton

And that's the most wonderful thing about creating. It will always be a mystery.

This, is an "Alpha" state. A restful time, yet you are still aware.

You can make use of it for waking "cat naps"

To snap out of it, all you got to do is focus.

But, sleep is still the best there is. You and a couple of others that I know should try some.

Ed ~

I found it so hard to stay awake when I worked the night shifts at the hospital. Around 4 a.m. was the worst for me because that is when blood sugar levels are usually at their lowest.

I wasn't a meditator back then. Nowadays I can slip in and out of an alpha state rather easily. Great power nap that I can do even with my eyes open. Certainly would have been advantageous if I knew how to do that during those night shifts!

Goodnight! Sleep tight!

I believe that I read that you are a nurse as well, so I imagine you may have experienced a night shift like this where you just don't know how you'll make it to the end of it without passing out!--buat of course, duty calls and I never gave in to the overwhelming desire to slip into oblivion!

Lovin' hugs,
EA
