“I’m lonely”, I prayed, ”Please send me a friend
With whom I can dare to be me
With whom I can share, for whom I can care
For forever, til eternity…

I waited with hope for the arrival, (please hurry)
But it took quite some time for delivery
When it finally arrived it took me by surprise
For it came in a most interesting package

I opened it up, or did it open me
Many gifts in there to discover
A man with new songs just came tumblin’ out
Filled my senses, fed my heartfelt hunger

“Take your song and work for a balance”, he said
“Stay alive and live in the moment.”
“Build the piece, and build the chorus, and then
The poetry and imagery around it.”

He talked about chakras and amethysts
Patterns of stars, and the moon
I sensed myself unfolding and
He said, “It humbles me, I see it, too.”

We’re not always steady, not always strong
But we’ve learned to let our lights shine
We’ve shared some magic; we’ve shared our songs
Those things will be ours all through time

You are my friend with whom I can dare
To be who I try to be
With whom I do share, for whom I do care
For forever, eternally…

Kahlil...this is "more than"...as my granddaughter has taken to saying.  If I say it is beautiful, she will say "it is more than beautiful" and that applies so well to this lovely...

more than lovely.

The best songs are the ones shared with a friend, and as a musician, I appreciate how you described the feelings of sharing and caring. Bravo, my friend, as this is one poem that brings a smile with it's thoughts!

(sigh) Oh Kahlil, this is very beautifully heartfelt, sweet friend, just like Carole King wrote and James Taylor sang, "You've Got A Friend" and will always be looking out to you! (big hugggssssss) God Bless You, sweet friend, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Kahlil, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Love,

Thank you, Sue and Noah.  I think it just reminds us to always have an open heart and mind so that we don't miss opportunities that come our way.  Especially love...
