And there was

a bang of drum. . .

the women heard
the memory
of the rhythms of the heart
across the miles
heard wailing
they dropped baskets
from their heads
as they left
the marketplace
and stopped
the pounding
of the cloth
in the streams
of gathering
They left buckets
by the well
empty-yoked of neck
They dropped their stitches
on the loom
they gathered herb
medicinal,
and sang to bees
for gift of wax
and brought the tapers
for the cure--
they stole the fire
from the day
on branches
trees bequeathed to them
and the leaves gave glad
to spark
to lend the light to show the way
up and over mountain pass
into the dank of valley hide--
the hearts that heard a sister cry
and lit the night in festive tune--

procession of the sisterhood--

these--the women--

birthed the stars.

Karen, me sis...I've read this several times each time wanting to read it over and over and the song .."Songbird" by Christine McVie was playing over and over in my head.

I hear your beautiful voice within these words hon.

I'm keeping this.

If a little
of what I may have
said
inspired this...

remind me

to say a little more

more often...

Karen, this is going into my library, for I can't possibly find my favourite line....all of them are perfection. Love this! Chris

Karen, I was looking for something else and found this wonderful poem you have written. That is one of the things that keeps drawing me back to Passions.......the bond I feel with you sistahs!!!!

I think of you all so much....as well as the brothers around here, too. Love you all, my PIP family!!
Heart hugs & love,
