I'm leaving part of me behind
After I've taken my final breath
I hope that parts of me live on
In the days after my death

I've decided to donate my organs
To those who struggle to live
I want to leave a good impression
Of myself I've much to give

Maybe a child will receive my kidneys
To improve his life tenfold
Which will give his life new meaning
And allow him to grow old

The recipient of my liver
May be a father facing death
Who'll receive my gift of life
So he'll have more than one last breath

My eyes may go on seeing
From within another's soul
To give to someone in need
Is to me the ultimate goal

I hope my heart will go on beating
So them my death won't be in vain
Parts of me will go on living
Freeing others from their pain

I feel so proud to be a donor
How I wish there were many more
So won't you please consider
Allow your heart to open its door

"The source of love is deep in us
and we can help others
realise a lot of happiness.
One word, one action,
one thought, can reduce
another person's suffering
and bring that person joy."

I am in motion
I am blue
Love is an ocean
I'm anchored in you

(big hugggssssssss) God Bless You, sweet friend, I am also an organ donor and I believe it is important to give what you have to the children and others because even when your live ends, you can still give life to another! (kiss on cheek) You are one of the most compassionate friends I have ever known, sweet friend, God Bless You, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Sue, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Love,
Noah Eaton

And that's the most wonderful thing about creating. It will always be a mystery.

Well, I've been reading awhile, and you get my very first reply!  This is definately worthy...oh, this is good!  From the way the poem first opened up, I knew it would be fantastic!  It has a way of pulling the reader in, or maybe it's just because I feel this very same way.  Fantastic work, and such a good message!

Great work you have here, Sue. I decided long ago that I would donate my eyes, and after reading this I can't see how I could be so selfish as to keep things I no longer have a need for. Thank you for giving me the extra push I needed.

I do not know whether I was then a man dreaming I was a butterfly, or whether I am now a butterfly dreaming I am a man.

Pulling this from your works of the past, I just had to let you know just how wonderful a poet you are.

I have always told my family that I wanted to be a donor.  It just moves me to think that people are actually dying senseless while they are waiting for a lung, a kidney or heart.

Absolutely beautiful work.

Hey Sue:

you know - I am a donor but
for some odd reason I just couldnt
give up my corneas . . .
(cant imagine needing my eyes and not being able to have them - I know - crazy)

this is a lovely tribute
