Please note that this is not a reflective, personal piece of writing. My feeling is that we are all in the process of aging, so we might as well accept the course of nature with grace--or turn back the hands of time if you can afford it!

~*~

I wish that I were young again,
For the blush of youth has gone,
I'd sing out loud a new refrain
Of life's eternal song.

The joy of life and living
Would fill me head to toe,
The loving and the giving
From me would surely flow.

But time has withered up my soul,
No longer do I sing,
The years have taken a mighty toll
And changed most everything.

There was a time when I'd despair,
A spot upon my face,
Now wrinkles crease it everywhere,
Oh, to age with grace!

~*~

Sy is right, you know. Smiling and who cannot relate...well written, and reads nicely and can only add wouldn't it have been nice to have been old first, and then young...

how much more wise and appreciative I'd have been...

Hugs, Pat

"The age of the soul cannot compare to the "vehicles" we are burdened with"--that is a terrific line, Sue!

Suthern ~

If you have "CANYONS" on your face, I bet they sure are beautiful!--and that they reflect glorious sunrises and sunsets! And that would be a GRAND thing!

Loves & Hugs,
EA

Well I've been afraid of changing.  Because I build my life around you. Time made you bolder even children get older.  And I'm getting older too.  Take this love.  Take it down.  Climb a mountain.  Turn around.  And if you see my reflection in a snow covered hill.  Well a landslide brought it down.

Linda, if you do happen to get wrinkles,
I'll bet they're smiley ones and not
frowney ones...HeeHee!!!

Seriously, I used to be more concerenerd with
aging and wrinkles, and if I would be
sagging in places.  Then I met my
Mr. Wonderful and he loves me just the way
I am...and thinks I'm  ALL  THAT, even if I
do notice a new sag or wrinkle. Isn't it great
that love is blind?

Hugs to you, sweet friend,
Ethel

Joyce ~

Well, I know one thing for certain, it may be a common scenario regarding youth being wasted on the young, but I get every possible ounce of enjoyment and value out of every hour so that whatever time I have left of my "youth" is not wasted!--and I plan on staying young for the rest of my days!

Warm hugs,
Linda

You, my dear friend, could never be old. With a sense of humor like yours, you'll be able to laugh through all of life's pains and you'll always be surrounded by people who enjoy your light-hearted personality.

Warm hugs,

Having modeled when I was "younger" I am acutely aware of how fleeting the marketable years can be. It is easy to get caught up in appearances and dread seeing a line crop up on one's physiognomy! Fortunately, I developed my insides along with my outsides and am prepared for those lines to appear, for they will not mark my spirit and that is the real me of me!

(big hugggsssssss) Oh Linda, this made me cry because I never had a happy boyhood and I wish I could live one happy day as a boy, though I'll not dwell on the past and hold the spirit of the boy in me as I grow! (wipes tears) This is very heartfelt, sweet friend, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Linda, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Love,
Noah Eaton

And that's the most wonderful thing about creating. It will always be a mystery.

Noah, the boy within you will always be alive and well! It pains me that a gentle soul as yourself, had such an unhappy childhood but from that adversity you grew into a strong and giving man who is loved by many!

Huge hugs,
Linda

Please do! As you know, dear poet friend, if our poetry can reach out and touch people, there is no finer reward for the poet!

Love & Hugs,
