Last night I wrote a poem,
...a pleasant little verse,
Not too long or erudite,
...my ode was almost terse,
It had a pleasing rhythm,
...it even had some rhyme,
It had no deep philosophy,
...no thoughts of love sublime,
It was just a poem,
...to bring a smile or two,
To folks who would peruse it,
...perhaps, yes, even you.
But now there is a problem,
...my poem is not here,
I fear I've no idea,
...why it would disappear,
I've looked high and I've looked low,
...and I've looked in between,
For my itsy, bitsy poem,
...it's no where to be seen.
It was just words, it had no legs,
...on which to run away,
Yet my paper sits here empty,
...I don't know what to say.
I suppose I could get angry,
...I suppose that I could curse,
I suppose that I could understand,
...if my poem was blank verse.
Wait a second, I just might know,
...give me some time to think,
Eureka! that's the answer,
...I penned in invisible ink!

We often talk about what draws us to read a certain poem. The draw could be a favorite poet (like you) or maybe just the title. Tonight it was a combination. This was perfect.

friendship is unnecessary...like philosophy...like art
it has no survival value...rather it is one of those things that gives value to survival...

Nay my friend,
you penned in blue,
upon the sky, you see...
then the clouds grew
sad and still,
and hid your poetry...

for you'd lose your soul
in find of muse
for you crave the very best...
each one thought
to please your pen,
and stood to stand the test...

the quill then scratched,
the paper cried,
it felt your blinding tears,
it couldn't hold
all you felt,
nor justify your fears...

no my friend,
the poem's here,
in our pages, blue...
it finally found hold
of your heart,
a poet, and his true.

~*~

I do love it
when you inspire me!
