I heard the music playing
And the words fell on my ears
In swirls of crimson clearing
with the weight of all your tears

Could I see the morning sunshine
Without the silver dew
Could I watch a thousand sunsets
In the heart of only you

I saw your body swaying
To the tempo of my fears
And saw your eyes a playing
On mine for a million years

Could I touch the very heart of you
Without the pain of sudden bleed
Could I find it all so true
That your arms would fill my need

Sing to me in Gaelic
And sing to me alone
A dance we'll do together
Upon this hearth called home

For I've seen the smoke in rising
upon a winters day
and heard the sound of laughter
of innocents at play

I've watched the battles raging
heard the thunder rolling in
a thousand times a waging
I'd soon die for all my sins

Then I thought about you singing
to me on summer nights
and of the bells a ringing
upon the mountain heights

As I heard the music playing
and the words fell on my ears
In swirls of crimson clearing
with the weight of all your tears

Sing to me in Gaelic
And sing to me alone
A dance we'll do together
Upon this hearth called home

Thanks Martie... I heard a report on PBS while I was out grabbing lunch and it spoke to the fact only 60 thousand people are left in Scotland that speak Gaelic. It went on to report on how a group of musicians was working to spark a new interest in the language and played a cut from one of their songs. Of course it was in Gaelic... but I didn't understand the words and could take the tune in my head back and write what I wanted to go with it. Credit to the music she sang in her excerpt.. I was moved to write this as what I imagined she could be singing...

just an off the top of head thing I felt compelled to do... LOL

This runs along the green, my friend
this scampers high and low,
and takes me there in Gaelic love,
to where I want to go...

Oh?     You could tell I enjoyed it then?

my oh my oh my....the moth is giddy...
Ron rhymed and its divine

You're the best I've ever felt ...
it's so wrong not to be with you.
It's getting harder to stay away,
it stops my heart just to be with you.

Those are my favorite lines..."with the wieght of all your tears"...made me catch my breath, with understanding...I love the way you write, I love the way you think.

Lovely, Cpat! Just wonderfully rhythmic and filled with a sweet tenderness...love this "hearth called home."

Whether on the shoal or on the shore,
I'll seek the lighthouse evermore.

This gaelic song warmed my heart
as I loved to hear her sing.
On St. Paddy's Day every year
Singing gaelic was her thing!

She'd dance, and twirl around
Irish gaelic sung so sweet,
Dressed all in kelly green,
with ballet shoes upon her feet.

Thank you Ron for a tender moment
Your song made me remember a friend.
And even though it warms my heart today,
I know this pain felt will never end.

My great grandmother was an immigrant... I can remember her brogue, but she insisted on speaking English.

I have a musician friend in New Orleans that dedicates a considerable amount of his time, money and energy to preservation of the Celtic culture... and his music speaks to my heart even though my ears are incapable of understanding. *S*

I love this, Cap'n... you captured the lilt of the highlands with the thrum of a bodrhan and haunting strains of bagpipe playing soft accompaniment. *S*

Hey Capt Ron, this was really good!
I haven’t been here long and it’s
taking me a while to read the vast amount
or poetry here, and get acquainted with all
the various poets.

Again, great write!
