When I wake to the crowing
Echoes in my brain
I start myself to the going
Beginning once again
The dreams I am leaving
Begs me to remain

The day moves to take me
Grasp to all the same
The ring of keys won’t free me
From imaginary chains
As I sip down my morning coffee
I try to wake my brain.

Here I am, in the real again,
Here I am, part of it all,
Here I am, I can feel again
Here I am, yet dreams still call.

I hear her call oh so softly
Whispering my name,
As if she could touch so gently
Inside my sleepy brain,
But shaking my head so sadly
Cause it’s here I must remain.

Here I am, in the real again,
Here I am, part of it all,
Here I am, I can feel again
Here I am, yet dreams still call.

Sometimes she’s there beside me
Sometimes she’s far away,
She’s a three reel movie
And I’m a one act play
But I struggle with reality
For just another day.

Here I am, in the real again,
Here I am, part of it all,
Here I am, I can feel again
Here I am, yet dreams still call.

As I make my simple dinner
Just some broth and some bread,
No conversation to enter
I wait to go to bed
No reason for me to linger
There nothing to be said.

As I pull the down the shade so tight
Block the last of day
Then curtains make it seem like night
It time to drift away
I turn off the remaining light
And hope for dark to stay

Here I am, leaving real again,
Here I am, gone from it all,
Here I am, I can’t feel again
Here I am, now dreams will call.

It's rare we get a long poem,
let alone a love song,
from your pen...

so I quietly deem this,
my friend,

a

Thank you.

Thank you, Sunshine,
It’s only so long because of the chorus,
And the fact it is about an entire day.
I am pleased you enjoyed it.
