I never could trust a man
who couldn't look me the eye
and pierced the heart of the matter
with a dagger of rationality

How the blood did flow
a sombre red river of truths
which once lay concealed

I dragged the corpse of dogma
into a forest of fruitless ideals
and buried it under logic

But freedom is never easily won
from beneath the soil a voice echoes
a haunting reminder of dependence

Reminds me a lot of our current situation - with Bush and the war. It will be intresting to see how the history books play it out, oh, say, ten years from now.

Thought provoking read.

What, all
shortlived...
or dredged through
a hundred years...
none will speak
the man's great truth...
or speak to its
arrears...

~*~

Now...please, understand...
what your wrote,
brought above, forward...

whether it makes sense
or not...
it's what you wrote,
wrought....

and I thank you for that.

Damn you gotta stop being soooo good....As always your words pack a powerful punch and you leave me with much to ponder.  You've brought a uniqueness to this theme, on the surface your words appear simple, but, there's really much depth here, your writing style kicks butt! I'm saving this~

Honeybee you're much too kind, I really appreciate it. My writing hasn't been that strong lately, at least in my mind.
Ethel and Sue are sure to yell at me for saying that now.

lmao

if this is your weak writing
I am jealous

& as much as I am a romantic who loves all the light poems that seem so popular
I believe we have both experienced the darker side of this existence
which you candidly express in a vivid & unique style

looking forward to more
from such a talented poet
