Shrill screams awaken him
to a world he'd like to forget.
Whispers its only a dream,
but this nightmare is all too real.
Warm tears pouring down,
he holds his breath
as she sobs herself to sleep,
clinging to him tightly
though her thoughts are so far away.
This used to be a rarity,
now all the nights are like this.
He bites his lip in despair,
as he realizes all he can do is love,
and watch her slowly fade away.

Thank you so much passing shadows! I wish I could have conveyed this better, but I am still so, so bad. The feelings were there, but the words were failing. But you should have seen the first poem I ever wrote in March, now that was awful!
Anyways, 8000+ posts, and yet you liked my poem I am so grateful, though bewildered. Thankyou!

ThisDiamond: What? I am shocked. Surely you flatter me. Thank you so much, but now I am going to be so afraid to post anything else, I don't want to let people down. If this is good, and I don't see it, surely I just got lucky.

Thank you so much though I tried hard to convey my emotions with this. Maybe I succeded just a little bit?

P.S.- Thank you for the kind welcome. Why is everyone so nice around here? Not that I'm complaining. LOL

Welcome to Passions, Mike.  You wrote your first poem in March?  Then you're coming in on your own ground floor - and a lot of us don't take poetry lightly.  I see what you're trying to say - I know what it made me feel...and think.  I think you're going to like it around here...so I'll just say...

Welcome to Passions!  Please, check your E-mail for a Special Greeting!

And thank you for the Greeting Card It is a great feature, I must look into it for sure.

I would also like to welcome you to Passions.  I have only been part of this wonderful place for a couple of weeks now, but I am so glad I am.

Your writing brought tears to my eyes...Beautiful...I could see the lines unfolding in my mind. I could feel your frustration in my soul. My dear, you have it!

I want to thank you for your in-depth critique of my writing.  You got what I was trying to convey...that's the connection I (and I dare say) every writer craves.  Thank you so very much.

Let me make myself clear about one thing:  Anyone who thinks, feels, and writes the way you do can never be deemed a loser.  You have so much to offer this world with your talent.  Take the gift God has given you and touch the hearts of His children.

God Bless You...I look forward to reading so much more of your verses.

Patricia: Where do I begin?

First of all, relating to your poem was so easy, because it was so good. You made me see and feel everything! I couldn't help but connect to something like that. You are so very talented

I can't believe I moved you so much with my poem, I hope I didn't upset you too much. My poetry can be so dark, I can't help it though...

"Let me make myself clear about one thing:  Anyone who thinks, feels, and writes the way you do can never be deemed a loser.  You have so much to offer this world with your talent.  Take the gift God has given you and touch the hearts of His children."- Thank you, but I don't agree for a second. You are so incredibly nice though!

God bless you too! Big smile!   I'm so afraid you'll hate my other poems. But if you do, could you at least tell me, so I know where I went wrong? Thanks!

You are the amazing one! Thank you angel.

There is so much feeling and passion and love in your poem that I nearly burst into tears. A wonderful, touching write.

Marti: I've spent most of my 24 years wondering where all the wonderful people in the world were. I think they are all here!

[Big smile] for the wonderful welcome! I feel so at home here now with all the welcoming!
Oh do you really think so about my poem? I am still doubting it myself, but...thankyou. If only I had written it as I had wanted too, as I felt it, but I am so weak at writing, and in mind. I bet a million people could have done this better, but I am so glad you enjoyed it!

Sorry, I have a tendency to babble

I dream of Peace as well. I'm usually doubtful we'll ever stop all the fighting, but I shall be hopeful today!

Hugs to you too! I pray a million smiles will come your way

Hugs to everyone! [Big, big smile]

And may everyone have a HAPPY HOLIDAYS!!!

Midnitesun thank you for taking out the time to reply to me. I am so grateful!!!

"It's sad to watch someone you care for fade right before your very eyes.'- I'm such an idiot. I was sitting here for ages just thinking about this line of your reply and feeling well...I'd rather not say. Yes it is horribly sad isn't it.
I am thankful for your reply, and so glad you liked this. And please don't thank me for my poem, it is so poor especially when compared to its context.

Martie: Yay! I hope to make everyone smile here, for everyone is so nice! "Emotive and honest."- I always strive to be honest in real life in everything, especially my emotions, so I am so glad you found this in my poem as well. To say this is emotive is the biggest compliment I think anyone could give me! Thankyou. I tried so hard to convey emotion with this, I am so pleased that you thought I was succesful. Still it is a very weak poem, I know.

Mike, I sure am glad that someone bumped this back up to the front, or I would have surely missed it. The poems get pushed back so fast when so many are posting.

I wanted to tell you, though, that I love this poem. You took a very hard subject and even though it was sad, you wrote the words beautifully. Even though it wasn't very long, you made every word count. I like that. I wish I could do that. Sometimes my poems get rather lengthy.

I also love the enthusiasm that you show with your responses to the replies. You seem to be very real  and that's what we like around here.

You probably can tell that I love the smilies, too, huh?     Aren't they the cutest little things. I loved them since I saw the first one a long time ago. Well, I didn't mean to say all that. Oh, did I ever tell you WELCOME  TO  PIP?

Hugs,
Ethel

I'm sorry I missed this...please forgive me..it made me think of certain things in my past...I really am not good at commenting nor pin pointing the meaning...you know how that goes right? we all think differently at times...

Oh I'm glad you said so much, even if you didn't mean too! Oh you are such a sweet heart! Thank you for all the kind words, and the praise, which was way more than I deserve.

Oh and I miss most of the poems too! Don't feel bad for that. And as for the late welcome? Well sometimes it's better late, because it stands out so much more than when thrown in at the same time as everyone else Thank you, that was so nice

I highly doubt your poems are ever wordy at all LOL And lengthy is a wonderful thing in a good poem. A good poem is like a dream to me, and I can just float in it forever, it can never be too lengthy.

You like smilies to huh? Yay! I would give you dozens here, but for the 5 smilie limit. Oh well.

Thnk you Ethel, you helped to light up my day!

Don't you dare apologize for missing a poem of mine, you hear Seriously, I know exactly what you mean Kristen. You expressed yourself to me much better than you realize. Your response pulled at my heartstrings there. I could feel some of your own pain, though I don't know if you had meant me too.

I wish you would see this reply, though I doubt you will ever look back here. But if you do, my heart goes out to you, whether the pain I sense is past or still lingering. Sigh...I can't take pain in others I guess, tears my heart.

You deserve to be happy. Plus I'm selfish. I want you to be!
