Listening to every heart

Sisterhood

Perhaps, if I leave sound here,
In alto voice, low in key
A cappella, she will sing
Bringing her hurt on home to me…

Oh, low the rhythm of this one heart
So low the moan escapes the ear
But trembled vibrato runs through the soil
It shakes within, this treacherous fear

Is the moan too cruelly wrought?
Or a lament of what should be?
A cappella, she does sing
And brings her hurt on home to me…

Ties that bind and blood that bleeds
A sisterhood of those who grieve
I don’t know her, yes I do…
She’s my voice among the leaves…

Brothers band for good or bad
For stout is a warrior’s heart
Yet who laments and bares the breast
To give life its best start?

Men are brave when one to one
Yet they fall apart in quest
When tender is the love that blooms
Within their mighty chest…

So soft this hand that rocks the cradle,
So malleable is this, her soul
So pliable, like spider’s silk,
That man can’t take it whole…

Nor does he hear her croon of voice
That low lament of song in tear
That only woman knows in sisterhood
And brings salve to assuage the fear

Perhaps, if I leave resonance here,
In alto voice, subdued in key
A cappella, she will croon
Bringing her hurt home again to me…

Awwwww....you write such beautiful words from your heart and soul.

Can we be 'blood-sisters?'

Karilea,
What a tender write...how I miss my Ginger.

If tears could build a stairway and memories a lane, I'd walk right up to heaven and bring you home again.

Ditto, this made me feel that I want a sister too, especially one that is joined at the hip or the heart too.

Karilea,

Your verses always take my breath away.  This one needs to be she shared with all of womankind.  Today it seems woman are so competitive with one another.  They take shallow stabs at you, not deep enough to make you bleed, but just enough to evoke pain.  We need to comfort one another, to help each other through this journey of life.  After all, we are all sisters under the skin.

On another note, but not so quite removed, Sister!

I want to thank you for your kind words with regard to my writing.  I consider it a great honor that you enjoy my poetry.  Your writings possess so much I have not achieved in my own scribblings.  I am continually working toward improving my poetic images.  With your inspiration, I will become the writer I should, can be, and want to be.

God Bless You,
-Patricia

One thinks, upon reflection,
that none can alter your inflection.
But then the chorus of affection
Tells you, in your introspection,
That, once again, your great selection
Is a gift of fine perception.

And indeed, this speaks to the bond between me and my sisters.  Wonderfully written.  KJ

I read this yesterday afternoon, but the werk monster was nipping at my heels so I didn't get to reply... still, it stayed in my thoughts through the evening... and that's a tribute to its excellence. *S*

I'm blessed with the greatest sister by birth in the world... and through the years, sisters of the heart have enriched my life, dried my tears... and healed hurts I didn't think I could survive. I'm not exaggerating when I say I wouldn't be here without them.

Your poem reminds me of each of them... so you've gifted me with both a wonderful read and a counting of blessings. *S* I thank you.
