Raph:

If I am looking into this right - I do believe you are referring to the "good" book . . .

hence:  illusions -  self/societal illusions

*astounded*
absolutely amazing - as always

Raph,

I kid you not, I've thrown that book across the room more than once....

First time was when I read that the Jewish people, being led across the burning, hot desert whether they wanted released from slavery, or not, HAD to ask God for water. Can you imagine???

What the heck kind of loving God was that?????? Hmmmm? I could not phantom Him...it just seemed like God DID NOT know who I WAS!!!! Let alone them....

In the interim I did much work on myself starting with a dictionary (this is true!) looking up words such as: arrogance, defiance, god, and the list goes on and on....being at a crossroads in life helped me the most...

I've come a long way....but, He isn't finished with me yet...

I don't think my answers were within that book any more than they were within myself....(I despise thumpers, too, by the way.... to each his own way... and if God wants someone He'll thump that person, Himself...)

But, answers I did get....

May you find all you need for peace of mind...Many hugs...Pat

Raph,

I want to answer this again. I was going through some old files and came across a saying, not mine, that it isn't what you say or how you say it but how what you said makes someone feel.  So I came back to see my last reply, and make sure you knew I was talking abt. me and NOT you, and cookies what they are, it has not come up for editing...thus, this new reply....

Re-reading your second line, which for some reason  I didn't notice ...it is so right for every true Christian...especially at this time of year...

the Truth does lie tangled in thorns...a crown worn in agonizing pain....written unwittingly ???? you wrote every Christians heart with that one line....thank you....a wonderful reminder for this holiday...

If poetry is meant to cause one the think and feel, you sir, are one fantastic poet....

Sincere hugs , Pat

Pat I've made no secret that I have issues with religion, specifically christianity in which I was born and raised. That said I think if one would seriously devote themself to a religion they owe it to themselves to research and find out about it's history. I mentioned in another post that we're lucky that christianity falls into well documented history and one can trace it's roots and history like no other religion. That said in doing this one would find opinion altering and horrible truths. That's what this poem is about those truths uncovered in the myth, I'mnot here to knock anyone's beliefs or to change their opinions though I admire anyone open minded enough to question things. This poem is simply a rlease, FOR ME and things I've learned. Jesus for me is an incredibly interesting man..

"Tangled in thorns" seems somewhat appropriate just now.

the truth lies tangled in thorns

EXACTLY! All the rest is mystery ... but there is FAITH, which is not illusion.

Walk serenely on your path, may you find answers.

The only meaning that lasts forever and which EXUDES from the Book, is LOVE. It might be enough!

Buona Pasqua Raffaele. Immagino che stai sognando i dolci siciliani??! Marzapane e così via?

"the truth lies tangled in thorns"

For me, that one line can stand alone and speak volumes.
