It was just a burglary,
...a dime a dozen crime,
A tweaker's need to score a gram,
...it happens all the time.
No one was home, or so he thought,
...a shoulder to the door,
A shot rang out, his body fell,
...bloodstains on the floor,
It was just a burglary,
...a dime a dozen crime,
He'll not reach age seventeen,
...it happens all the time.

Ah Sir...you need a vacation...that's not going to make it all go away nor make it better, nor even allow for a change...but sometimes we need to step back, and find the good that so many others are doing with their young lives...

wouldn't it be wonderful if we could save them from themselves?

Tim,

A wonderful reminder. Heartbreaking it is to know some so young desperately are in need of a fix and will do anything to numb out society's denial they exist.

Yeah, let's ignore them....and see what happens next...generation, after generation...

How can I change the problem? In my own neighborhood and backyard...that is where it starts on an individual basis....

Am I doing anything today which might help alleviate this pain?  Nope!
Just writing this note...too busy to take time to check out local girl's and boy's clubs to see what help they might need...too busy to picket school boards for more after school events to keep kids off streets, especially latch-keyed ones, although such thieves could very well be from a middle to high income homes with 'professional parents' or soused ones, too preoccupied with the Jones status  to remember they bore children and there are responsibilies of such...

But, at least this does nudge me...If I did but an hours volunteer work for youth, in some fashion....it might make a difference if in only one child's life...

Thank you for this reminder.

Hugs, Pat

..without surrender, be on good terms with all persons..

Indeed - You do see it all, my friend... How on earth do you maintain your wonderful attitude?...
