On the heated sands of the Negev desert,
I stood silently close to you,
head lifted tentatively to receive
the touch of your hand offered
in a sensual gentleness
I’d never known before,
and sadly, have not experienced since.

Pushing aside a sheerest face veil
intended to protect my fairness from
scorching slaps of the fiery desert sun,
you exposed much more than my pale visage.
Your thoughtful gaze from soft brown eyes
made me feel the inner warmth of a mind and soul
who saw past my fragile defensive outer layers
as if they were transparencies,
revealing a soul that yearned for the fires
of pure passionate love.

My heart beat erratically with Eros thoughts,
nearly bursting from its holding place
in wanton anticipation.
But we were not destined to be,
you and me,
although I knew in my heart
you wanted me
as I wanted you.

And the heat of that moment
remains within the core of me,
even as I feel the coldness
of distance and time
encircling my body.

Unrequited passion can often leave an indelible mark on one's mind--and on one's heart. Your descriptive words were so romantic and full of wistful, yet bittersweet, longing.

But we were not destined to be,
you and me,

Dear Kacy this is very beautiful. An enchanting moment that stretches into eternity. Truly yours forever. Maybe it is just enough in its perfection?
Much enjoyed.
