Insipid day
why is your palette turned
upside down in fall of sky
that leaves no life in this breath
exhaled from the lungs
of yesterday?

Is it your anger
turned into charcoal grey
that it might later smolder
in heated night to scorch
a careless touch?

Or does God’s will
deem those such as me
who fare not well in states
of grace,
be denied the hues
to understand
the way of clouds
or hearts?

You are without
while I am within

Lacking brush fine
and spectrum broad
to paint vibrancies on
tomorrow.

"Artist I Am Not"

Wanna bet?

You're the best I've ever felt ...
it's so wrong not to be with you.
It's getting harder to stay away,
it stops my heart just to be with you.

You, my dear poet, are an artist par excellence! Your colorful pen drips the finest of paints.

So many ways to read this...your poetry rarely fails to leave tears in my eyes, and this is no exception.

Enjoyed this I think! smiles...

I did! Deeply touching.

Well. This is different from you. hmm...felt a bit more formal than I am accustomed to from your pen, but I enjoyed the switch of meter and style.

You still have that somber tone of introspection, but as always you convey your theme with grace.

A gentle write from a gentle poet.
OH.

And the subject matter made me smile, because your style DOES remind me of painting, in oils. You have the patience to layer slowly, and your work has the calm of an artist alone with his subject.

I'll shaddup now. Good to see you, Cap.
Enjoyed.

The subtlety of this is to know the complexity of a heart...

which you do...even when you say you don't.  And still, you show us all of the nuances, and carry the weight away from us, so that we come in to read, once again know the poet has graced us, and then you leave us alone, with thoughts to ponder...and then we wait...

for your return, once more.

The sky will certainly clear and a flame may rise from the charcoal, tomorrow might even paint itself.  If it does, you will have the words to color it in our minds.
(Though I'm thinking that states of grace and understanding the ways of the heart are most likely mutually exclusive states)

Ron...Your pallet is the color of heart, not sky, though sky might wish to paint with as much heart as you.  You're beautiful, my friend.

You just described a sizable chunk of my existence.... which I strive to repair but lack the tools to do it on my own.

Maybe it's that this particular part of the picture can only be painted by someone else, no matter how well we paint the rest.

Rat Leader said it well. What an excellent write.

(big hugggssssss) I beg to differ; not one mere mortal is as artistically superior as Him but just because He provides the pallette to us doesn't mean we too can't be artists, and you are by far a great artist! (smiles) Yay, I love this, God Bless You and Happy Easter, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Ron, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Love,
Noah Eaton

And that's the most wonderful thing about creating. It will always be a mystery.

Indeed you are an artist and this is a profound poem, it's your finest and I'm saving it in my library.  Have you considered submitting this for the book?  If so, you definately have my vote.

Take care,
Melissa~
