The smell of perfume fills the air because it was
dropped when a girl got enough.
Enough of life that takes her time.
She wants to end it all rightnow but knows she
can't because there has to be an answer out there
somewhere.
She sits in a corner crying because her soul bleeds
for something comforting.
To be ridiculed is normal for a girl who isn't
pretty.
She could have been anything she wanted.
She could have been something more than those who
are pretty.
You'r mouths which are full of discrimination end
the lives of many.
When are people going to understand that life
doesn't matter if you're elegant or not.
Ugly in the inside, everyone of us.
When will it be better in this selfish world?

Kara, you walked a fine and tenuous line here, but ultimately you asked the right question, when will it end.  Goodness.  I'm still asking that question myself.     How well I remember these feelings, how wonderful is that first time of sense of recognition for what you do - not how you look - and then...something comes over you...you learn to be happy with what IS you...for that is very individual, and very special.  I have seen young people put away any anger or hurt over how they "think" they look once they reach out and do, or become, someone extraordinarily special.

I see THIS in your words.

I feel it in this poem.

Kara,
this poem hurts, like I imagine you hurt if the poem is about yourself. I would just like to say that in my life, I have noticed that some of the best looking people on the outside are so mean and ugly on the inside. Their personality being so terribly that no-one wants to be around them.

On the other hand I have seen people rather homey-looking who looked better and better the more I got to know them. They were so beautiful on the inside that it would shine through to the outside. Most of them have pesonalities like gold, too.

So, beauty and how good a person looks on the outside is really determined in the eye of the beholder. Right?

Heart Hugs to you,
Ethel
