I was faced with the roads that were covered by Frost.
I was already weary of walking the wood
And was already feeling incredibly lost,
So I made a decision, believing the cost
Wouldn't make any difference, awful or good.

As the afternoon passed and the evening came
I made random decisions at every bend.
Though my journey, at first, had a definite aim,
I decided that all of the roads were the same,
Just as long as they led to the opposite end.

I'll be telling this tale with a heavy remorse
As the sun disappears and the sky fades to black:
I was lost in the woods, having strayed from my course,
And naive navigation made traveling worse.
I'm afraid it's too dark now to try to turn back.

It's never too late to turn back! And if it's dark you just have to find a light...Dark can't exist without light, right?
Btw..Robert Frost is my all-time favorite poet...I enjoyed this, but perhaps I am a bit biased?

I do not know whether I was then a man dreaming I was a butterfly, or whether I am now a butterfly dreaming I am a man.

To be honest, I haven't studed Frost as much as others yet. I'm really a huge Dorothy Parker fan. Don't worry--I'm not the speaker in the poem.

Kind of quiet here. Thinking of your poem, both the intent and form....

but more, I looked up Dorothy Parker...(an MSN search w. just her name)

Oh my..... only spent 15 minutes or so reading her poetry.... Oh my.....sigh...

Thank you.

Am looking forward to more of your poetry. I did a research of yours here, too....impressive, to say the least... the form!!! wistful here...

Don't know how I missed seeing or commenting on your previous poems, here...as most others here did, too...

Thank you for sharing with us your terrific talent.  Enjoyed...

Hugs, Pat
