Saluting with misty eyes

The Hero

The hero, you might say, to me
Is now as it would ever remain
The one who showed me strength of heart
Pride of life and sense of self
He faced his war within himself
As he did the war to which he bled
Integrity was his word
So long as he wasn't playing Spades
In which the war itself was returned
And it was everyone for himself
He ruled the home with an iron fist
Slightly tarnished with rust
So as not to be to hard
Although the words were never there
The love was always enough for us to know
And as he left us to our own
He went as he had lived
Head held high and the fire in his eyes
Even though the weariness had invaded his mind
He died the same way he survived.. a man

When the morning cries and you don't know why...

Ringo,
Well now, this is an excellent tribute. You do such honor to the hero. Excellent job and thank you for your willingness to do a class assignment. Another A+.

If tears could build a stairway and memories a lane, I'd walk right up to heaven and bring you home again.

Ringo, this is a beautiful tribute to
your hero. And, it's also a very fine write
for Larry's challenge.
