the day
has just broken loose
a marathon runner
in the final stretch
running after night
it has been a long one

the light blue bowl
wears a tinge of gold
in celebration
setting loose
a pack of doves
chasing one other
an unwavering glide
over the expansive sea

the sea
is on ebbing tide
as fishermen
pull their boats towards land
the catch hasn’t been
very successful
but there will be fish
for all, this evening

tomorrow
might be different
that will be another race
till then the night
is going to play catch-up
while the men
of the land of the salty breeze
catch up on their
sleep

quiet though is the breeze
almost in mourning
a sign, maybe
of the darker days ahead

but the local minstrel
is still on happy tunes
talking of glad yesterdays
of the bounties from the sea
when the catches used to be
pleasantly large
and less
oily

you and I of the city, hardly notice

your title caught me...Saturday afternoon I saw my neighbors out back and the little boy of 4 was holding his first fish that he had caught with his dad. He was very proud to tell me his was the largest. I got my polaroid out and took a picture for them.
The fish were grown in a hatchery, probably the only sure way of knowing they weren't contaminated.

Sudhir,

I enjoy your poetry tremendously.

A way of life so few know of and well described. The first two stanzas, my favorite parts could be applied in many ways.

Thank you for sharing your poetry with us.

Hugs, Pat

You pulled me in with this one, and I loved every word.
So wonderfully penned.

(big hugggssssssss) Oh Sudhir, this is wonderful, sweet friend, it saddens me to see the world being contaminated everyday and I pray we can somehow rehabilitate before all the oceans are defeated! (sad sigh) This is very heartwrenchingly honest, sweet friend, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Sudhir, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Dammm,(note the spelling--I did not swear!)you're gooood! Such descriptively vivid writing!

The ending hits home

..."you and I of the city hardly notice"
