Inside the shadow's shadow

0 posted 2003-04-13 02:32 PM

I found a lonely trail one eve
While strolling through the darkness
A sparkling way of rainbow gleamed
Beneath the glimmering stars.

Of course a person curious
Would be so inclined to follow
On tip-toes edge down this dreamy path
Where the starlight seemed to wallow...

What not I knew but soon would find
Was surprising, even to me...
This pathway led into a soul;
A quiet, empty plea.

The farther that I chased this end
The heavier the air became,
And my lungs became aware at once...
Something's not the same.

Where happiness once rested in
The nooks of pearly dents
A haunting sheer of ice now hung
In dark and dripping tents.

And over there is loneliness,
In comfort's hidden place.
What now is bland and dull grayness
Once lay a pillow of lace.

I turned away and saw ahead
A knobless wooden door...
And in shocking deja vu my eyes
Read the sign once more.

"The Door Into Your Heart" it read
And I could not define
The meaning of these silent words...
"Your?"...Is this soul mine?

I rotated slow as the turn
Of a lazy summer day
And suddenly I recognized
The strings that this soul played.

Old Loneliness, my only friend
(Ironic, yes, I know,)
Had been there for so very long
Through the winter's harsh, cold snow...

And the ice that chilled this empty soul
No longer seemed foreboding,
In fact it gave a homey feel
After the day's unloading...

What started as a mistic dream
Became fatality....
A crumbled, vicious stumble
Into reality.

And chancing one look back
Towards the knobless wooden door,
I turned and waved a hand at it...
My eyes could see
No
More.

I do not know whether I was then a man dreaming I was a butterfly, or whether I am now a butterfly dreaming I am a man.

Wonderful, heartfelt, writing...Just remember now-a-days it doesn't always take a doorknob to open a door...the heart opens wide when we least expect it...I pray joy and love fill your life...

This really is very deep and touching! A journey of the searching soul...we sometimes fear to look close, but the close look promises healing.

New roads open in our life all the time. We have to look at them and see if really we want to go that way.
Keep writing those beutiful words. -Kara <><
