My Love

My Love was one,
Who made the birds sing !
And in the depths of Winter
Could turn my thoughts to Spring

She was the ending of my day
Shared each mornings light
And in between these lay
A warm and loving night

Sadly I turn away from where she lays
Leaving love ,life,and all delight
Weary and endless are my days
Cold and lonely are the nights

Arthur

Arthur, enjoyed the sad read, why would one ever leave this love, life plays us strange roles indeed, but live it we must.

Sincerely
Rick

Arthur
A very personal poem that struck a chord. If this be true, please don't choose to leave her where she lay - allow her love to embrace your heart. She will warm you in the night and will be with you through the days, crying and maybe even smiling with you, as your life continues to unfold.

This lovely poem has an old-world feel and a tone of poignancy in its form and expression. It also has a lyrical quality which makes me want to grab a lute and start strumming a melody to your lyrics. The imagination boggles...there I am, a minstrel, sitting at the foot of the throne of King Henry VIII strumming and humming this song.

Gosh! I'm getting carried away. You are to blame for writing such evocative lines!! :-)
