A war it takes our loved ones, if fate was theirs to die
Man creates the demon made of hate and long goodbye
War creates a scaring which the years find hard to mend
Not quelling bitter hatreds through the message it might send

But viruses are different, they elude what man does know
And many die not knowing that their time has come to go
Medicine does struggle for their cure and resolve
Some viruses may linger, while some other strains evolve

War will take its thousands in this lifetime that we live
But a virus will take many more and mourning never give
A concoction built by nature, made to cull what breeds excess
Spread from one to other, leaving death and just a mess

Wars will always face mankind, for differ we all do
But viruses lay hiding, just to strike as something new
Mankind won’t change conflict, for it’s born into his way
What does bring tomorrow? What brings another day?

                    ............

They say that Sars can cause the death of over a billion people in twelve months, day-to-day is the only way we can live, with others let’s share what is our worth and love.

Sincerely
Rick

Hi Rick,
Great poem!  Here in Canada precautions have been taken to reduce or halt the spread of this dreaded disease.  Hopefully they will come up with a form of treatment soon.

It seems there is always something ... I recall my grandparents talking about TB, then in my youth there was polio, AIDS in the early 80's and now SARS. It terribly frightening.

Thank you for writing this.  Marti

Hi Rick
Yes, hope the cause and cure is found soon. I agree with Nancy here, but the worry is that unlike in Canada, the authorities in Australia are not responding  at the airports yet. A very topical poem Rick. I'll keep looking.
love Lynda

Nancy, thanks for the reply, I hope there is a cure found soon, all the best and take care.

Marti, truly frightening indeed, thanks for the reply, we hope to someday say, remember Sars.

Dear Lynda, thanks for the reply, great to hear from you, the saying, "We'll be right mate" might be taken a little too literally over here, lets hope that some action is taken soon and we can all feel a little more secure. Great to have you here, take care and love to all.

To you all, again thank you.

Sincerely
Rick
