To time I am but humble, to the years but just a crumb
Unsure still of my future, but so certain what will come
Forever on the road of hope with dreams of what could be
To awaken to another day and feeling less than free

To live life of survival and to do what’s less than sweet
To waken to a day of work and not much change to meet
To think of others and of self, the picture large or small
Is something that must face mankind, effecting one and all?

The road of man is trodden deep, is rutted, rough and worn
Man’s pathway through existence; from the moment we are born
With detours and diversions, with land of green and bare
Some rainbow treasures tempting to the sight but never there

Upon this road we stumble, on the cracks where others fell
Depending on our strength within and faith on way to tell
Thirsting on the barren land, then tasting banquet sweet
Blessed if we find friendships hand, though many souls we’ll meet

Life’s years are short for all of us, our time of youth a blink
There’s little time to venture life, yet too much time to think
Regrets all fill the basket sitting lonely with our dreams
As age gives youth no second chance or genie that redeems

So though to time we’re humble, some dreams let us obey
Before they turn too distant and their thoughts just creep away
For though a crumb we are to years, let’s be a crumb which fed
The world a little happiness and hope which it can spread

SPIRIT, I truly hope that I shall never disappoint you, I write from the heart and rarely from the head, I don't know if that makes the difference or not, it is just nice the words keep on coming, a great release. Thanks again for your reply.

Rick

Hi Rick
Love this poem-tried to write earlier but had to register first. The feelings evoked by your words would be relevant to everyone at times, but I think the last two lines give the reader great comfort..at least they did me.I really believe that it is those crumbs that feed "the world a little happiness" that give us our self worth.
