Moved from a shack to a barn

When did this happen to me?
I’ve been aware of the eventuality
Overtaking me from afar
Like a slowly rising tide
Like a fogbank rolling in
To swallow me up

But always from a distance
And never an immediate concern
Now, in a blink, it seems
It has caught me

The affliction of time

Not old age, though that too
Starts to loom
There...
In the distance
Not an immediate concern

But the age that drapes you
Like a threadbare cloak
Like a patina of rust

The age when young men
No longer fear you
Yet, you fear no one

The age when young women
No longer desire you
Yet, your desire is undiminished

This thing now challenges me
To garner a new respect
To find a new romance

Using the very tools
That time has given me
While wearing its’ raiment

A beautiful thoughtful reflection...but?

I've gotta quibble on ONE specific:

"The age when young women
No longer desire you"

smile...have you seen the latest numbers?
chuckle, I believe your ratings are up sweetie--

and so? I vote...yep... *click*

Is this the quibble line?  If so, I am here to quibble too, and add to that number.  Yup - it may be that time to think of things differently but doesn't mean you are dead yet This is great for the book by the way.

It takes three for a really good quibble...so here is mine..and as for age, and as for time...I quibble with them too.  Enjoyed the honest of this feeling that I know too well.

Kind of like spit polish,
that waxes the soul and gives it luster.

You've still got it wranx~
keep it shining for when that
special someone comes along.

A very good and honest write. I would imagine that when you feel a challenge, you come forth with all the charm and wisdom that age gives....some of the tools that time has given.

You're so right.  Age should have given you tools and everything that goes with it. Youth is only the rehearsal.  The main act follows.  joyce Joyce

I'm looking at your picture and wishing I was a heck of a lot younger and cute - so I gotta quibble too.
